Chromotherapy and benefits of the colours

The colours have an influence on us, on our attitude and they even have healing virtues. The meaning of colours can vary from one culture to another, but generally they are not too different.

The concept of chromotherapy was born in the 20th century thanks to Doctor Max Luscher. However, actually, the principle of chromotherapy goes up much further: ancient China solicited it already, without speaking of old India, which associated the traditional colours with the chakras (centres of energy located in the human body).

This very old alternative medicine gives each colour properties and therapeutic virtues having a great influence on our health.

Little overview of some colours and their properties:

  • Red: colour of love, libido and anger. The red is privileged at the people who miss energy or who are sad. It can also stimulate the creativity. On the other hand, it is to be avoided for aggressive people.
  • Blue: colour of peace and tranquillity. Blue fosters concentration.
  • Purple: this colour is obtained by mixing blue and red It is a colour between heat and cold which encourages calm and meditation.
  • Yellow: colour of tonicity. The yellow fights mental tiredness. It encourages to reflection, study, and activates the thought.
  • Pink: colour of optimism, it would act like an antidepressant, while fighting against the black thoughts.
  • Green: colour of serenity and appeasement. Green dissipates anger and nervousness.
  • Orange: colour of cheerfulness. Orange would be helpful to get rid of black thoughts, to stimulate good mood and intellect.

The efficiency of colours remains something very personal. Your feeling towards the various colours is above all a question of taste and sensitivity.
