4 symbols for a touch of zen

By : Veronique - Categories : Health and wellness

Having the right attitude towards stressful events and the whirlwind of modern life allows us to navigate all currents without sinking, to resist influences that we do not need. Always focusing on problems won't help you solve them because you'll end up overwhelmed. It is by developing and reinforcing the positive side that you become stronger and that you can overcome the ordeal. Of course, difficulties should not be ignored, but they should not be put first.

In the hectic whirlwind of modern life, the quest for inner serenity becomes more crucial than ever. Let's be clear, we all want to be zen! Don't we? Zenitude, zen attitude, somewhat fashionable words. However, the word zenitude is formed from another very old word: Zen Buddhism is a form of religion which was born in India, passed to China, then to Japan. And for several decades more and more people have become interested in this concept.

So, in this article, I take you to discover the Zen attitude and its life principles. I briefly explain how to cultivate it and then we move on to practice with 4 emblematic symbols of Zen.

Shall we go?

What does zen mean?

Zen is not just a way of life, but a state of mind that can be cultivated on a daily basis. Children need this philosophy to live better with the constraints of their age and appreciate the beauty life has to offer.

Be zen refers to the Zen attitude, i.e. the serene posture generally attributed to Buddhist meditation practices. Example: In the face of mounting stress, it's best to adopt a Zen attitude (and a good relaxation session won't hurt either!)

It could also be described as a state of serenity or inner calm.

Somewhere, it's as if everything flows over you, as if nothing can touch or shake you. Not that you're indifferent to what's going on around you. Simply that everything is in its place and that there is wisdom in everything.

It's above all a way of perceiving the world, of looking at it.

It requires a great deal of inner work. And sacred geometry symbols are excellent tools to help you.

1. Mindfulness practice: Live fully in the present moment. Be aware of your thoughts, emotions, and surroundings. Meditation is a great tool to achieve this.

2. Stress management: Today there are so many techniques and ways to reduce stress! We can cite deep breathing, muscle relaxation or yoga. But also acupuncture, hypnosis, sophrology, or even the use of essential oils, Bach Flower, stones, sacred geometry symbols. Simply choose the method you feel most comfortable with.

3. Gratitude: As I mentioned in the introduction, always focus on the positive side of things and events. Likewise, if you take a moment each day to think about what you are grateful for, it can help you cultivate a sense of contentment.

4. Take care of yourself: Take care of your body and your mind! No one will do it for you. So, exercise regularly, eat healthily, go to the cinema or to the hairdresser if it makes you feel good!

5. Be kind to yourself: No one is perfect. Know how to accept your imperfections and your limits. Making mistakes is part of learning. So be kind to yourself and know how to forgive yourself when you make mistakes.

6. Set boundaries: No! It's important to know how to say no! You have the right not to accept everything and that is perfectly normal. Exit toxic people who take advantage of you. On the contrary, surround yourself with positive and inspiring people.

7. Cultivate passions and hobbies: What makes you tick? What brings you joy? Do you know the answer? Yes? So go for it! The goal is to escape and recharge your batteries.

Zen decor: 4 symbols for a zen space

1) The Mandala: circle of harmony

The Mandala, of Sanskrit origin meaning "circle", is a complex geometric representation with roots in many cultures, notably Hindu and Buddhist. This concentric figure offers a visual meditation that stimulates concentration and calms the mind.

At the heart of the Mandala is a central point, symbolizing the fundamental unity of all existence. Contemplation of this symbol helps to refocus the mind, encouraging the search for inner unity and connection with the cosmos. The repetitive patterns of the Mandala also represent balance and harmony, essential elements of the Zen attitude.

At the heart of sacred art, a Mandala emerges, bathed in the soothing hue of blue, and bears the evocative name of "The Peace of the Radiant Spirit". This Mandala, with its delicate intricacies and concentric patterns, is not only a visually captivating work, but a portal to inner tranquility.

Blue, the color of the infinite sky and the deep ocean, serves as the backdrop for this exceptional Mandala. This hue evokes serenity, confidence and mental clarity, creating an atmosphere imbued with peace. Each line drawn with meditative precision, each carefully crafted curve, converges on the center of the Mandala, symbolizing the very essence of peace.

At the heart of "The Peace of the Radiant Spirit", an invisible source of energy emanates, spreading like waves through the motifs. This energy transcends the boundaries of the Mandala, touching the viewer at the deepest level of their being. When you look at this work, it's hard not to feel an inner harmonization, as if the soul itself were enveloped in a soft, soothing light.

The meticulously crafted details of the Mandala intertwine like a visual mantra, inviting silent contemplation. Each motif seems to tell a story, a tale of calm in the face of chaos, of stability in the midst of uncertainty. Spirals, circles and interconnected lines form a visual language that transcends words, communicating directly with the soul.

As the eye explores the different strata of this Mandala, the spirit calms, freed from the burdens of daily life. "Peace of the Radiant Spirit" is not simply a static work of art, but a dynamic experience that awakens a profound sense of tranquility. Shades of blue merge with energetic vibrations, creating a harmonious dance that envelops the mind in a cocoon of calm.

In this way, this Mandala transcends its artistic form to become a guide, an inner compass pointing always towards peace. May each contemplation of "The Peace of the Radiant Spirit" be an invitation to plunge into the depths of oneself, to explore the vast expanses of inner tranquility, and to allow serenity to radiate into the heart.

2) The Lotus Flower: spiritual blossoming and the essence of Zen

The jewel-like Lotus Flower embodies a profound symbolism that goes far beyond its visual brilliance. At the heart of its meaning lies a powerful teaching about spiritual blossoming, a fundamental principle for cultivating the Zen attitude in our tumultuous lives.

The Lotus Flower emerges gracefully from troubled waters, its delicate petals remaining immaculate despite their muddy surroundings. It's a visual lesson, a powerful metaphor for our own journey. Likewise, in the midst of life's challenges and difficulties, we have the ability to blossom into our purest essence. The Lotus Flower encourages us not to fear difficult moments, but rather to embrace them as opportunities for personal growth.

The Lotus Flower, though radiant, only lasts a limited time before returning to the water. This reminds us of the importance of accepting impermanence in our own existence. By understanding that everything, even difficult moments, is transitory, we cultivate an attitude of letting go, an essential key to Zen attitude. Acceptance thus becomes a catalyst for inner peace.

Contemplating the Lotus Flower in a meditative context offers a path to inner balance. By mentally connecting with this image, we can tap into the resilience and purity that the Lotus Flower embodies. This becomes a ritual of returning to oneself, dissipating tensions and preoccupations, and achieving a state of inner harmony.

3) The Tree of Life: deep roots and spiritual elevation towards Zen

The Tree of Life, such an inspiring timeless symbol, naturally invites us to cultivate a Zen attitude. If you look closely at this tree, you will notice its deep roots, its strong trunk and its extensive branches. It guides us towards the balance between earthly anchoring and spiritual elevation, inner growth. It is in this subtle balance between grounding and elevation that the very essence of the Zen attitude lies.

In some representations of the Tree of Life, the leaves are sometimes interconnected. This shows us that everything is intrinsically linked in the universe. This is something we can meditate on. It pushes us to nurture an attitude of kindness towards everything around us. This is a key characteristic of the Zen attitude.

Meditate with the Tree of Life. It is an incredible symbol that is the source of so many profound lessons. Visualize it, and let yourself be immersed in the feeling of grounding. Be grounded in the present moment. Then raise your inner gaze to the branches, connecting your mind to the vast possibilities for growth and understanding.

Through the Tree of Life, create an inner space where peace and harmony can flourish, just like the leaves of the Tree of Life dancing harmoniously with the wind.

4) Decorate your home with Zen Buddha

Who other than the Buddha as the absolute symbol of the Zen attitude? This emblematic figure of Buddhism is often represented in a state of absolute calm, with closed or half-closed eyes, a serene face and hands positioned in symbolic mudras. It conveys a message of inner peace, balance and universal compassion.

When you incorporate items with the Buddha, you invite this calming and inspiring energy into your home. You can create a zen and inspiring space around the presence of the Buddha, a space where you can retreat to meditate, reflect and recharge. Each time you lay your eyes on these pieces, you are naturally invited to reconnect with your own peaceful nature, to find a moment of inner calm in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Try it, it really feels good!

Whether it is a wall canvas representing the meditating Buddha, a resin statue, or even a mug, each item is carefully selected to evoke an atmosphere of tranquility and harmony.

How to find zen through Sacred Geometry

The symbols of sacred geometry naturally invite us to go towards the center, the center of ourselves! And it is at the center that we can find the zen attitude. Working or meditating with sacred geometry is a profound and fascinating experience. When you meditate on these geometric shapes, you can access a state of inner calm and spiritual connection.

Start by choosing a symbol that resonates with you. We will naturally choose a symbol that we need or with which we have an affinity. It's all about resonance and vibration! Like when you choose a stone. It's exactly the same thing. Contemplate this form with a relaxed look, without putting any preconceived ideas or concepts into it. Just let your mind immerse itself in its beauty and perfection.

I always recommend letting yourself be inspired by the vibration rather than putting your mind into it, which, let's face it, has an unfortunate tendency to sabotage the experience.

The key to zenitude through sacred geometry lies in contemplation and meditation. Take time each day to immerse yourself in these shapes and colors and to explore the depths of your own consciousness. With regular practice, you can cultivate a state of tranquility that will enrich every aspect of your life.

Adopting a Zen attitude

Buddhism is undoubtedly the religion that has most concretely conveyed the values of the Zen attitude, of peace, by seeking inner calm, meditation, peace of mind, internalization, contentment, letting go, liberation from illusions that are sources of desire and conflict... The Buddha himself was a symbol of peace. The Buddha himself was a symbol of peace.

Through his teaching, the Buddha tried to purify the water of relationships. The Buddha, "the Awakened One", had been awakened by water. He was a being of compassion and benevolence. He always tried to bring about peace, love and right relationships, not only between people, but also with animals. He was gentle, peaceful.

The Buddha wanted to free man and the world from suffering.

He taught this ascending path, the elevation to another world. He did not teach peace through weapons, but through inner work, inner enlightenment.

Man must therefore aspire to inner peace in all conditions, striving to consider only the positive and comforting aspects of life, even in apparently negative circumstances. He must consciously work to balance and straighten his thinking, giving it an upward momentum. In this way, he will be able to change the bad aspects of his destiny by accepting the difficulties and trials he encounters without recrimination, convinced that they will be a source of new knowledge, of what is real and what is not, in a word, to think in the right way.

Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov said:

"Peace is an inner state and can never be achieved by suppressing anything external. It is first of all within ourselves that we must remove the causes of war."
